I was recently made aware of a lecture coming up in Queens University in Belfast by Noam Chomsky. I quickly learned that the lecture was of particular interest because it will talk about grass roots activism, social media and its use in the election of Obama.
As the R8 Your Politician sites are getting closer to launch with the new political year approaching fast and I thought it would be great to get Mr Chomsky's view on the sites and its wider implications for the democratic system.
I sent an email to Mr Chomsky asking would he be up for a short interview when he arrives in Belfast. To my surprise I received a reply.
So I opened my inbox this evening and I noticed the name "Noan Chomsky" .
When I sent the email to Mr Chomsky I was not expecting a reply as im sure this man recevies 100's of emails a day.
The reply to my email was very positive. He was interested in what we were doing with R8 Your Politician and although he said the day he arrives he is pretty full up with engagements he said the following day would be better for an interview.
Noam Chomsky is an American linguist, philosopher,cognitive scientist, political activist, author, and lecturer. He is an Institute Professor and professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Chomsky is well known in the academic and scientific community as one of the fathers of modern linguistics. Since the 1960s, he has become known more widely as a political dissident, an anarchist,and a libertarian socialist intellectual.
It will be great to meet with Mr Chomsky in person and even better being able to interview him and get his views on what we are doing with Rate Your Politician.
